The mobile dental clinic is basically a dental office on wheels and the key to our mobile outreach program. We take the entire staff with on the road with portable dental chairs, basic dental equipment’s instruments, supplies and other logistics on a truck/van. Dentists, dental hygienist, assistant and other staff-there is room for everyone. The mobile dental unit enable us to meet the needs of individuals who may not have transportation or access to dental offices and clinics. In Sierra Leone, there are 8 dentists for population of about 8 million people and all of these dentists are working in the capital city, Freetown.  Presently, there are no dentists in other parts of the country.

With the mobile dental vehicle, we are able to deliver the following dental procedures- fissure sealants for children, basic dental fillings (Atraumatic Restorative Treatment), teeth extraction, dental health education and dental screenings. In addition, we facilitate the treatment of children with cleft lip and palates through partnerships with other charities and friends. In the not too distant future, we are planning to acquire a fully equipped mobile dental van to start our school based dentistry program in Sierra Leone.  For our future dental outreach and clinic, we are in need of dental chairs, units, dental sterilizer/ autoclave, dental x-ray unit, truck, dental materials and supplies.
